Witnesses

We want you both to have the most private and peaceful ceremony, for this, our celebrant led (non-legal ceremonies) do not require witnesses, just the eloping couple.

For a civil ceremony elopement in England or Wales you will need: To be 16 or older, if under 18 you

will need permission from your parents or guardians, not already married or in a civil partnership and not closely related. A Civil Ceremony is not a legally binding It is important to understand that unlike a

civil ceremony officiated by a registrar who is employed by the local council, celebrant-led weddings do not create a legally valid marriage contract.

However, separating the legal registration of your marriage from your wedding ceremony brings a big benefit – you gain complete freedom to create the ceremony that suits you best. You can choose

words and rituals that are most meaningful to you both, and you will have more flexibility over the time and location that your ceremony takes place.

A good celebrant will get to know you as a couple and take the time to craft a ceremony that is entirely unique and personal to you both.

For the legal practicalities, many couples choose to go to register office to legally register their marriage in a low key way, in the days or weeks prior to their celebrant-led ceremony.

At its simplest this can be done with a couple of witnesses in the Registrar’s Office for a fee of around

£50 plus the cost of your marriage certificate/s. Then you can focus on your celebrant-led ceremony as

the heartfelt occasion, where you exchange vows and honour your commitment to each other in a way that feels entirely authentic to you.

  • No, all civil ceremonies do not require witnesses, only legally binding ceremonies with a registrar require two witnesses over the age of 18, we are working on gaining our Approved Premises licence, watch this space.

  • Both Vivianna and Eathelin have beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces.

    Should the weather not allow and outdoor ceremony, then the balcony makes a perfect area with the

    woodland and lakeside views in the backdrop, as does the huge tree trunk which runs through the centre of each treehouse, hug a tree and celebrate.

    If the weather allows; then Vivianna has a beautiful lake, fire pit, waterfall and small wooded areas, which includes a hollow hazel tree, complete with two log seats.

    Eathelin has some lovely wooded walkways and areas, a meandering brook with water features, stone bridge also a private fire pit and Willow Bower area, just choose, which treehouse and decide later where you would like to celebrate.

  • Yes of course. you are more than welcome to decorate your treehouse, you can use a supplier from our local suppliers or you can use your own, all we ask for you to remove these on departure, or maybe keep a few special flowers and press these.

  • Take a look at our supplier list for some fabulous local recommendations to suit all tastes. We ask our couples to organise any outside catering or restaurants directly with the supplier so they are able to discuss options.

  • Yes, our suppliers list provides fantastic local photographers. Please do take a look at their websites and give them a call for a quote.

  • Yes, Vivianna has a table and seating overlooking the lake and Eathelin has a table and seating in the Willow Bower.

  • We can suggest local B & B’s for guest accommodation. There is an option to also have two.

  • Yes, of course. We provide local suppliers who we know of and have been highly recommended, however, we are very happy for you to use your own.
